Coordinates with: All departmental heads and staff within the hotel

Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to provide Food and Beverage service to guests according to established standards, policies and procedures. Also to always provide a courteous and professional service always ensuring maximum guest satisfaction.

Key Tasks and Responsibility

  1. Greet and escort guests to their tables
  2. Present menu and provide detailed information when asked (e.g., about portions, ingredients or potential food allergies)
  3. Prepare tables by setting up linens, silverware and glasses
  4. Inform customers about the day’s specials
  5. Offer menu recommendations upon request and serve food and drink orders
  6. Up-sell additional products and services when required
  7. Take accurate food and drinks orders, using POS ordering software, order slips or by memorization
  8. Communicate order details to the Kitchen Staff
  9. Check dishes and kitchenware for cleanliness and presentation and report any problems
  10. Arrange table settings and maintain a tidy dining area
  11. Deliver checks and collect bill payments
  12. Park napkins, carry dirty plates, glasses and silverware to kitchen for cleaning

Other

  1. Meet with restaurant staff to review daily specials, changes to the menu and service specifications for reservations (e.g. parties)
  2. Follow all relevant health department regulations
  3. Provide excellent customer service to guests

Educational Qualifications

  1. A minimum of Diploma in Hospitality Management
  2. Certification in food safety will be an advantage
  3. 2 years or more work experience as a Waiter or Waitress in a fast-paced restaurant or hotel is a plus.

Requirements Skills

  1. Hands-on experience with cash register and ordering information system (e.g. POS)
  2. Basic math skills
  3. Attentiveness and patience for guests
  4. Active listening, with good communication and presentation skills
  5. Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment
  6. Team spirit with flexibility to work in shifts
